This morning I was awakened with sadness. Not about money, family, or the usual things that bother one’s being. No, not even about the bickering of politicians, it is rather about the divisions among Christians. It is so heavy on my heart this morning, because none of it should be. The one thing different denominations agree on is the fact that Jesus is the son of God, was slain on the cross for the forgiveness of sins, arose on the third day, and that by revelation and through His Holy Spirit we might be redeemed.
In 1 Cor.-12 the scripture states- “Now this I say, That everyone of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
Paul was talking to them because of all of the confusion as to how they were to be baptized.” I read these scriptures and see all of us today each proud within their own denominations of which they belong. I am of catholic; I am of Baptist; I am of Church of God and so on. They, all within their own justifications, and teachings within their own denominations; they all feeling like theirs only, holds the truth and keys to the kingdom. All divided; yet all hold the same title; “Christian.”
In Ephesians Ch: 4-7 reads: 3-Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace. 4-There is one body, and one Spirit even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5-One Lord, one faith, one baptism. 6-One God, one Father, of all, and through all, and in you all.
As I am writing this, I am asking myself, WHY; this is where we are to be of one accord. It all may be due to pride, I don’t know, I really don’t know. However I do know this bridge cannot be fixed anymore than the gap between the political parties. Maybe this is the reasoning behind the old saying, “lets not talk politics or religion,”
There is one thing that can be done, and that is to Love one another; not point the fingers or feel yours is the best and only one.
To accept the fact that The Lord is at the Head of the Church, His church. The proudness of each denomination should not be.
We as Christians and the children of the one True and Living God; maker of us all should be united in our hearts. He asked us to love one another, not criticize each other. Try thinking of it in this way, they of another denomination is merely but a cousin, within the whole family unit, Christ being the Matriarch or nucleus of the family. Coming soon is the family reunion where all are gathered and all are family.
